The History of the Department
The history of the Department of Mathematics began with the reorganization of the Teachers’ Training Junior College into State Institute of Social Education. In order to provide teaching mathematics and other technical disciplines, in 1932 the Technical and Mathematical Department was established that was headed by Yu.I. Kara-Kurkchi. Later, the heads of the Department of Mathematics were I.M. Kozetov, P.M. Zinkivskyi, Associate Professors L.S. Maliavin, and M.V. Shcheglov.
In 1955, the Department of Higher Mathematics was headed by V.L. Rvachov who became the first Doctor of Physics and Mathematics at Berdiansk State Pedagogical Institute.
In 1963, there was a reorganization, and the Department of Higher Mathematics was headed by A.F. Rakov, a PhD in Physics and Mathematics, an Associate Professor, Associate Professor, and the Department of Elementary Mathematics – a PhD in Education V.D. Tchaikovskyi.
After the merger in 1972, the Department of Mathematics and Methods of Teaching Mathematics was headed by Associate Professors A.F. Rakov, S.A. Rakov, V.P. Verzhykovskyi, V.I. Shavalova and O.H. Onufriienko.
Since 2012, the Department of Mathematics and Methods of Teaching Mathematics has been headed Natalia S. Vahina, a PhD in Education, an Associate Professor.
