The Department of Law is a degree-granting department which trains and graduates Bachelors and Masters of Law in accordance with European higher education standards and the requirements of the Bologna Declaration, as well as provides general legal training for students of other Berdiansk State Pedagogical University (BSPU) specialties.

The Department graduates the following specialties:

The First level of higher education (Bachelor)

Law. Upon completion of the Bachelor’s Degree Program, the graduates receive Diploma with the qualification of a Lawyer/ Bachelor of Law.

Duration of study: 4 years

The second level of higher education (Master’s program)

Law. Specialization: Business Law.

Upon the completion of the Master’s Degree Program, the graduates receive Diploma with the qualification of a Lawyer / Master of Laws.

Duration of study: 1 year 4 months

The cooperation of the Department of Law with the Center for International Legal Studies

(Salzburg, Austria)

Head of the Department of Law, PhD in Law, Associate Professor Dmytro Kamensky has been cooperating with Austrian Center since 2007. During the participation of Berdiansk State Pedagogical University in a mutual academic project, six American legal practitioners have visited the university with academic lecture visits.

Every semester, for two weeks, a foreign lecturer gives law students of Berdiansk State Pedagogical University lectures on current issues in American law – Constitutional, Corporate, Criminal, Civil, and others.

During their visit to Berdiansk State Pedagogical University, American lecturers are also actively involved into the work of scientific conferences, round tables, communicating with the lecturers of the University and with our active students.

Model lawsuits, exchanges of cultural experience and foreign language acquisition are also organized and conducted.

The sphere of the Department’s teaching staff scientific activity is traditionally multi-vectored: from actual problems of the national state institute transformation in the conditions of the world globalization to the issues of Ukrainian modern legislation improvement in various fields (in particular, in administrative law, criminal law, environmental law, civil law, commercial law, labor law), which is connected with the constant development of state-building processes, building a democratic and legal society.

At present the main areas of the Department of Law’s activity are:

• carrying out scientific developments/researches in the field of Law;
• supervising Diploma thesis and Course papers writing;
• preparing and holding an annual scientific conferences: “Human rights in the context of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”, an international scientific and practical conference “Azov Legal Readings”, students’ Days of Science;
• conducting business games, colloquiums and holding scientific conferences for the Faculty of Humanities and Economics students in order to develop their abilities and to check their mastery of theoretical material and ability to apply it in practice;
• conducting scientific and methodological seminars, other events according to the annual plan of the department on topical issues of modern science and problems in the field of improving pedagogical skills in teaching disciplines
• teaching quality control and assisting young specialists in mastering pedagogical skills;
• providing the teaching of the disciplines according to the Сurriculum
• working out training educational programs; methodological recommendations; educational and methodological manuals for conducting all kinds of classes and for comprehensive provision of teaching the disciplines of the department conducting ongoing consultations and individual classes for students.
