Educational work
The Department of Social Communications focuses on teaching disciplines specializing in journalism and media communication:
Journalism: journalistic ethics, investigative journalism, public relations, history of journalism, mass communication and information, media design, media criticism, media law, international journalism, new media, journalism, voice production, editing, the sociology of mass communication.
Media communications: media culture, media education and media literacy.
Practical journalists and media trainers are also involved in the initial process for conducting seminars, trainings, master classes, for example:
“Radio: creation and promotion”. The coaches are, Vitaliy Drozdov, director of Hit-FM radio station, and Oksana Shavel, director of ROKS radio.
“Radio and TV: Common and Distinctive Features”. The coach is Andriy Kulikov, an ISTV journalist and host of the political talk show “Svoboda Slova” (Freedom of Speech).
“The practice of fact checks in Ukraine – an opportunity and prospects.” Trainer – Alexander Gorokhovsky – Editor-in-Chief of Fact Check-Ukraine, curator of Checkregion-ua.
“Journalistic standards in the age of digitalization and Web”. The coach is Ingo Petz, a German journalist for the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and Der Standard.
Workshop “Television program: from design to implementation”. Coach – Olga Kaida, editor of TV projects Stosuyet’s’a Kozhnoho” (Concerns everyone) (TV channel “Inter”),
“Na Nozhah” (On Knives), “Inspector Freimut” and “Inspector Freimut. Cities” (TV channel “1 + 1”), “Or’el I Reshka. Perezagruzka” ( Heads and Tails. Reboot) (TV channel “Inter”).
“Self-presentation and persuation in journalism.” Coach – Inna Penchuk – licensed media coach, Head of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and PR of the Institute of Journalism and Mass Communication of the Classical Private University (Zaporozhye), professor, doctor of sciences, journalist, TV presenter and TV programmer.
“Journalism in Conflict.” Coach – Diana Dutsyk – media expert, former executive director of “Detector Media”.
“Post-truth and manipulation on TV. Fact-checking as a tool of counteraction.” Coach – Alexander Gorokhovs’ky – Main editor of FactCheck-Ukraine, curator of Checkregion-ua.
“Enthusiasm, desire, experience: How to create original and high-quality TV content in times of a crazy choice and competition?” The coach is Valentyn Terlets’ky, a journalist, author and host of the “Kozats’ka Zvyt’aga” (Cossack Victory) program at the Zaporizhia branch of Public Television.
