The faculty was founded in 1960 at the Zaporizhzhya Pedagogical Institute (ZPI). In 1985, in connection with the reorganization of ZPI, the faculty was transferred to Berdiansk State Pedagogical Institute by P. D. Osypenko. The Dean of the Faculty of Preschool, Special and Social Education is Larisa Kazantseva, DSc in Pedagogy, Professor.
