Iryna  Barbashova was born on October 25, 1959, in Shakhty, Rostov region.

In 1979, graduated from the music school of piano and received the qualification of the teacher of children’s music school. Worked in the specialty at children’s music school (Morozovsk, Rostov region), kindergarten (Andrivka, Zaporizhzhya region). In 1987, graduated from Berdyansk State Pedagogical Institute in the specialty ‘Pedagogy and methods of primary education’, earned the qualification of the elementary school teacher. After graduating she held positions of the assistant, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of the same institution of higher education.

In 1993–1996, studied at BDPI postgraduate school. In 1997, defended her thesis The System of Didactic Games and Exercises as Means of Formation of Visual Touch Abilities of Pupils of 1–2 Forms (specialty 13.00.01 – ‘The Theory and History of Pedagogy’; thesis advisor – DSc in Pedagogy, professor O. Savchenko).

In 2002, became the Associate Professor of the Department of Pedagogy. She was the Dean of Faculty of Training of Elementary School Teachers of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, the Director of Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University. In 2004 passed internship at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland.

In 2009–2012 studied at doctoral studies at the Institute of pedagogy of NAES of Ukraine. Since 2012 –  the Associate Professor of the Department of Pedagogy of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University. The master’s thesis Development of Touch Education of Pupils of an Elementary School in Ukraine in the XX Century (V. V. Chorna, 2014) was defended under the leadership of the scientist. In 2018, “The Didactic System of Touch Development of Younger Pupils” defended the thesis (specialty 13.00.09 – the Theory of Teaching; the Scientific Consultant – PhD in Pedagogy, professor, the full member of NAES of Ukraine O. Savchenko).

The author of 100 scientific articles, three manuals – General Fundamentals of Pedagogy” (2011), Didactics (2011), Touch Development of the Younger Pupil” (2015), monographs The Didactic System of Touch Development of Younger Pupil: Theory and Practice” (2018).

Awards: Badge ‘Anton Makarenko’ (2007); Gratitude Certificate of the Prime Minister of Ukraine (2018).
