Field of scientific interests

  • Zoology, ecology, and faunistics: research on species composition, spatial distribution, and faunal biodiversity in the Ukrainian Carpathians (specifically the Chyvchyn Mountains and Bukovynian Carpathians regions).
  • Ornithology: study of avifauna, seasonal migrations, nesting, and bird ecology in both human-altered landscapes and protected areas of the Bukovynian Carpathians; acoustic monitoring; and research on the impact of domestic cats and solar power plants on birds.
  • Nature conservation and protected areas: inventory, condition assessment, and ecosystem monitoring of national nature parks; use of Earth remote sensing data (Sentinel and Landsat satellite raster data) to monitor protected areas and develop functional zoning plans (specifically for Cheremoskyi National Nature Park).
  • Biodiversity conservation and sozology: study of rare and endangered animal species, preparation of materials for the Red Book of Ukraine, and development of measures to conserve their habitats.
  • Forest ecology and biogeocenology: monitoring of old-growth forests and primeval forests in the Carpathian region, particularly in the Bukovynian Carpathians and Chyvchyn Mountains.
  • Physicochemical research on abiotic components: study of soil cover characteristics and the physicochemical parameters of soils, surface waters, and groundwater in mountain ecosystems.
  • Electronics and programming: development of microcontroller-based control and monitoring systems for solar power plants and energy storage systems. design of measurement and power electronics circuits, control of power converters, and automation of power systems; programming of AVR microcontrollers in C++ at an embedded developer level; working with hardware interfaces and data communication protocols (I²C, UART, SPI, Modbus RTU/RS-485), and utilizing PWM, ADC, and external interrupts in microcontroller systems.

Public activity

  • 2015–present – ​​Head of the district branch of the Ukrainian Society for Nature Conservation.
  • 2012–2018 – Member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.
  • 2015–2018 – Head of the organizing committee and editorial board of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Regional Aspects of Floristic and Faunistic Research” (on a voluntary basis); member of the conference editorial board (2023).

Expert activity

  • 2015 – Co-authored the functional zoning plan as part of the development of the organization project for the Cheremoskyi National Nature Park, covering the protection, restoration, and recreational use of its natural complexes and sites.
  • 2014–2018 – Lead person at Cheremoskyi National Nature Park for the implementation of the international conservation project “Conservation of Carpathian Primeval Forests.” Coordinated and provided expert support for project activities, including: surveying primeval and old-growth forests in areas adjacent to the park (identified as potential sites for the park’s expansion); preparing the scientific justification for boundary changes (expansion) of the park; identifying bat species using acoustic bat detectors; and collaborating with local communities.
  • 2014, 2016 – Expert on the identification of primeval and old-growth forests in the Bukovynian Carpathians, in collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Ukraine.
  • 2016 – Participated in drafting proposals to amend Draft Law of Ukraine No. 4480, “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine” (regarding the protection of primeval forests), in collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Ukraine.
  • 2014–2018 – Co-authored several scientific justifications for boundary changes (expansion) of the Cheremoskyi National Nature Park, which were approved by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
