The History of the Department

The Department of Social Communications (until 14.05.2010 – The Department of Journalistic and Publishing) was founded on the February 1st, 2008. The Head of the Department was appointed Ph.D. Mr.Volodymyr Hvozdeev. As from 2009 to 2015 , Ph.D.docent Mrs.Julia Mel’nikova had been leading the Department.

 

During the 2015 to 2019 period Ph.D. docent Mrs. Anastasiya Nosko acted as the Head of The Department. Mrs. Julia Mel’nikova is heading the Department as from February of 2019 up to now, On May 31, 2009 during the XII All-Ukrainian Festival of Journalists “Azovs’ke Lito – 2009” (Azov Summer – 2009) Docent Julia Mel’nikova presented the opening of a new speciality “Journalism” at Berdyansk State Pedagogical University.

Professors of The Department won the contest of projects conducted by The Embassy of the United States of America in Ukraine (twice):

“Development and modern technical equipment of the BSPU radio journalism laboratory to improve the quality of education of the student journalists” (2010- 2011 academic year) – the expenses met by the Fund for Democracy Promotion of the Department of Press, Education and Culture.

“Educational TV studio of the media center of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University” (2017-2018 academic year) – at the expense of the Media Development Fund of the US Embassy in Ukraine.
